Welcome to EIS High School!

Dear Prospective Families & Teachers,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to High School. Our school staff strives to provide a supportive learning environment for students where they can learn relevant competencies to succeed in today’s world, and to develop a keen sense of inquisitiveness about their environment, an appreciation for our culture and an understanding of others, and an ability to analyze challenging problems with a critical approach.

Our High School Mission is to provide learning opportunities so that all students’ can develop their leadership skills in order to be respectful, balanched, responsible and caring human beings with social sensitivity and a love of learning. Using these as our guiding principles, we seek to form lifelong learners who will leave EIS with key competencies, understandings and character to become positive contributors to an ever-changing, interconnected world.

High school years are the springboard to our students’ future. As our school mission states, we are here to prepare them with the necessary skills and values to succeed not only in college but most importantly, in society. Our teachers use research-based, best practices and analyze data to challenge each one of our students to grow. Along with

academic learning, EIS’ administrators and teachers are here to help your child enrich themselves by connecting our academic curriculum with our co-curricular learning in order to provide learning opportunities outside of the traditional classroom setting.

We offer EIS’ High School Bulldogs many opportunities to participate in academic clubs,  community service organizations, leadership activities, athletics, university fairs and visits, school trips abroad and so much more. We offer other services through our Student Support Services Department including college counseling, academic support services, college placement testing and practice testing, as well as ongoing academic and emotional support. EIS boasts a growing Advanced Placement program in which over 20 AP courses are offered for students who wish to challenge themselves academically. We are confident that all of our Bulldogs can find a valuable learning opportunity that will inspire a sense of belonging and purpose in their pathway to their future.

As your High School Principal, I am passionate about student learning and I am dedicated to continually improving our student outcomes and developing a culture of high expectations as well as taking care of the social and emotional aspects of your learning. Our school staff is committed to ensuring the best opportunities for all our students, by creating innovative and engaging programs that will enable them to maximize their learning.

High School News Board

Here we share some of the good things that are going on in our Bulldog high school community.

The National Honor Society is requesting your help for their activity “What you can spare, they can wear.” NHS is trying to reach out to those less fortunate in our community and provide some help. Throughout December, NHS will collecting clothes for men, women, and children (of all sizes), as well as collecting bags, accessories, homeware and anything that could be helpful to those in need.

In an effort to keep our teens informed of ways in which they can show their values and positive characteristics while in public, our Character Education staff presented different topics during the month of November at Advisory Time, such as handling emotions, the importance of sleeping well and benefits of giving compliments to others. It is always good to share information in different areas that help to support our students in building a strong and positive character.

As part of the initiatives from the Counseling department and Character Education many conferences are taking place in our school to provide information and support to parents and students on different important and relevant topics to their daily lives. As part of one of the programs supporting and informing our wonderful school community, BILY (Be Informed Be Yourself), provided the conference “Children, Parents and Technology: Who is in charge?” by Lic. Manuel Edgardo Lopez, Lic. Joselyn Roque and Alberto Downing were part of the panel presented at the conference on November 24th. Also “Acuerdo/Contrato Padres-Hijos Uso de Celular y demás Dispositivos Electrónicos”, took place and was a clear success by the feedback received from parents and the many ideas the conference triggered on how to better deal with teens and electronic devices. During the month of December another successful conference was the workshop “Seguridad Cibernética” by Lic. Alberto Downing. Thanks to all our parents for participating!

To set the tone with the season High School Teachers are having a Holiday Door decoration contest for their classrooms. There will be three winners under the categories of Originality and Creativity and there will be a prize for the winners!

All of our programs are keeping our student busy with all the different events happening in and out of school National Honor Society (NHS), Student Counsel (STUCO), Knowledge Bowl, Model United Nations (MUN), Model of Organization of American States (MOAS), Cross Country, Track & Field, Sports (Basketball, Volleyball, Swimming, Soccer), Trabajo Educativo Social (TES), Chess Club, Charity, Teens Against Destructive Ideas (TADI), Girls Hope, Operation Smile, Environmental and Humanities, Math club, Student Teaching (STS), Marching Band, extracurricular music ( piano, violin, guitar, singing), and Bulldog Cheerleaders.

The High School staff is working constantly in the revision of the curriculum and the Learning Path for high school. The feedback of students, parents, teachers and administrators in the different areas of school improvement is a key piece to get to clear and firm goals that benefits our school community.

Promoting our school spirit, the NHS sponsored the Halloween Costume Contest which took place Friday, October 30th. Prizes were given in the categories of best group, most original, cutest, funniest, and scariest. The parade was a real success and students and staff enjoyed the time shared!

As we move forward to the holiday season, we must remember the great school community that we all share. I am very happy with the commitment of our students and staff that is evidenced by a noticeable engaging learning environment in the classrooms. Let ´s all together move forward from Good to Great as we plan to be part of school events that will lead us to the holidays. I am thankful to be the high school principal and to share everyday with all of you. Think about all the things you are thankful for and share the good moments and memories with your loved ones. See you in school!
